Tuesday Tot School - Friends

Tuesday tot school was a little scattered.  Due to a last minute change in plans we got to do the "Friends" theme instead of Mud and Worms.  Of course, only in Colorado do we have 70* weather one day and prepare for snow the next day.
About an hour before school started my tree trimming company pulled up with three big trucks.  They run on an "as we can" schedule and I didn't know when they'd be coming to do the work.  We ended up inside for the first quarter of the school day until all the workers left.

Snack of apples and cucumbers before heading outside.

We had all our favorite games and toys out.

What a fun day of school!  We'll do Mother's Day next week and try for Mud and Worms again the following week.

Mud and Worms - Monday Preschool

Preschool Mud and Worms Day!
We started the day inside doing some reading about worms.  We learned about the different parts of a worm (did you know they have a tongue?) and we learned that they poop dirt (ewe!).  Those were the two most important things to the kids in this class :)
We opened up our worm composting bin and everyone got a nice scoop of worms right onto a plate.  They could dig through it to find and hold the worms if they'd like, or they could just watch.

Of course my boys dug right in since these are actually their "pets" :).
We headed outside and it took a little convincing, but everyone eventually got dirty (even if only a bit)

Afternoon preschool started with reading "Sheep in a Jeep".

Then we reviewed some of the information we've been looking over for a few weeks about worms.
We also got to explore the worm bin.

When we headed outside everyone stayed out of the pools for quite a bit longer than I expected them too.

And finally they decided to sit.
Then Miss Amanda asked them why they were only sitting in the muddy water and not the actual mud.  They changed pools quickly.
 And the camouflaging began.

CJ was a Mud Monster and walked around the backyard trying to scare everyone.

 A little mud art.

Zoo Animals - Tot School Thursday

Yes, I love what I do.  But, honestly... how could you not love this?
We finally got to play outside again today for Tot School.  I'm hoping we're outside every day for the rest of the school year, but I make no promises.  Mother nature can be mean in Colorado.

We played with zoo animals and learned the letter z.  We had so much fun!

5 little monkeys jumping on a bed!
This picture makes me giggle :) He was eating grass and each time I asked him to stop he would respond that he was a grasshopper (I guess grasshoppers eat grass now).

A little snack time fun with songs.
What do you mean don't ride the animals?  They are the perfect size for these toddlers to "ride", so cute!

CJ got to take pictures of us during our art project time.  We made different zoo animal hand prints and the turned out super adorably.

 Story time.

Everyone was so happy to be outside enjoying the sunshine and exploring life.

We'll keep working on using scissors with play dough for the rest of the year.  They love this activity.

Building with the really big wood blocks.
In case you haven't heard, next week is Mud and Worms week here at Little Adventures Preschool.  Here is a sneak peak of what you may expect to find....
