Fortifying Friday

Welcome to Fortifying Friday!  Today we were concreting our skills with the letters: M, T, S, A and the sight word "the".  I think we'll stick on this for next week just to make sure we've got it solid.  In case I haven't explained yet, Fortifying Friday is an optional 3rd day for preschool kids where we work on the specific skills that we've already covered in preschool that haven't been completely mastered.  Friday isn't necessary for everyone, but I'm finding that all the students are really gaining from being a part of it.
I try and make Fridays a more hands on less time constrained day.  Today we made our own play dough.

Each child also got to pick their own color for their little ball of dough.
EMan looks at me like, "What? You mean I'm not supposed to eat the play dough?"  He has blue marks on his face from his marker free exploration last night while I was mopping the floor.  It didn't come off in the tub this morning... :)
We used mats from the Raising Rock Stars Preschool Curriculum that matched the letters we were working on.
After snack (green smoothies) everyone had A LOT of energy!  We turned on our Amazing Action Alphabet songs for the alphabet letters and got out the large motor blocks and such to sing and move our way through the energy abundance!
J is making the "m, m, m" sound and rubbing his tummy along with the song!
The twins were so cute when we were focused on the word "the".  I think we had some great break through moments today regarding the understanding that letters work together to form words.  Way to go guys!
