Have you ever started about a zillion things, one right after the other, in an attempt to make the best use of nap time, only to find that the first thing you started isn't done by the time the kids wake up? That is exactly what happened to this post.
Lil' Learners was canceled Thursday due to snow. Then this morning we were supposed to go see Santa at the Children's Museum but there was snow again! Don't get me wrong, we tried to go. We just got stuck trying to get out of our neighborhood and made it about a mile down the main road (which was at least a foot under snow though the snow plows had been working all night) when I decided it was much to dangerous to drive and better to make C sad to miss Santa than be in an accident. So we turned around.
On the way home C and I talked about what we could do instead. From some of the ideas I gave him he decided that we should make a calendar (chain) to know when Christmas was going to be and make pizza for lunch.
It was hard to get a photo of the gluing process because we were working on it as a team. The star at the top is from Our Little Monkeys.
We used long strips of paper, so the star is almost at the ceiling!
EMan wanted to help us make the pizza.
First we make the flour.
After mixing it we made one loaf of bread and one pan of pizza crust. After it was cooked we ate the whole thing, sorry - no pictures of that.
Our Christmas tree has a different look this year. Lights and kid friendly accessories.
C hung our Joseph by the band that used to be Joseph's headband.
I love these cute little board book ornaments that my mom gave us a couple of years ago.
What's a kid tree without bells?
C also decided that we needed to hang the gift bags on the tree because they were "decoration".
So, in the end, a tree that a 1 year old and an almost 3 year old can take stuff off and put stuff on and play as much as they like.
After lunch C had brought in a bucket of snow with the intention of making tabletop snowmen. I'd previously taught him this because I didn't want to go out in the snow with little EMan (we're prone to croup in our house and I hate being cold). Here is his creation. He used a left over piece of green pepper from the pizza for the nose and red pepper flakes for the eyes.
Steven helped him make a pet snow dog so the snowman would have a friend. :)
so sad to miss Santa but glad you guys were safe! The snowman is adorable!
