Little Adventures Preschool 10/19

We don't have the chicken pox (yay!), so we resumed our regular preschool this morning.  However, upon uploading pictures I found some from last week.
We were building with shape blocks (pattern blocks).
These are pictures from today.  I introduced the magnifying glasses to the whole group today.  I sent kids out to be detectives and find any words or letters that they knew that were on the walls.  Once a child found one we read it as a whole group.
We took red (it actually make pink paint) and yellow paint to make orange pumpkin paintings.
We measured how fat and how tall each of three pumpkins were.  Then we made guesses about what was inside.  After we guessed we opened one up and found seeds, guts, and squash.

We used some dried seeds to put the correct number of seeds on our pumpkin mats from last year.  I just made the graphic and then laminated the pages with contact paper.
Kids more proficient with numbers used mats with higher numbers.

Some kids are just in the "make two piles" stage.
This was an activity we did last week that I just couldn't pass up in posting.  We've used these gloves two years in a row now.  Two are filled with sand, and two are filled with cotton balls.  There are the numbers 1, 2, and 3 on three of the fingers.  We put the correct number of Halloween rings on each finger.  The rings are really small, so it took an adult to open the ring and get it around the finger.  A good whole group activity.

  1. I can see that your students are having fun with the activities that you've given to them. Good job!
