Wheels in Preschool

This morning in preschool we had a letter review.  We got to play with wheels and talk more about the different shapes around us.  We played with all the vehicle toys and cut out pictures of wheels and trucks.
We had a fantastic time in art today.  We cut out pictures of vehicles and glued them onto our pages according to if they were facing right or left.  Then we painted using toy vehicles to spread the paint all around.  We continued our discussion about shapes and talked about what shapes would roll the best.
This afternoon we dove right into our Ready2Read and guided reading lessons.  We talked about letter X and had a great time reading the book "Max" by the Amazing Action Alphabet.
We also spent time discussing the numbers 9-15.  We made a tape version of the tens and units homes.  We used unifix cubes and our big number mats.  We're still working on understanding that a stick of 10 is 1 stick of 10 units.  I'm hoping to really get a hang of what the numbers up to 20 mean so we can start working on counting to 100 next.  And not just the counting of it, the UNDERSTANDING of it!

Vehicles 2-25

We had so much fun learning letter R and all about vehicles.  We played with all the road signs and made our own steering wheels.  They loved driving around all the shapes on the floor (made of painters tape).  While driving on each shape they walked the outline and said the name of the shape over and over again.  We also got to "drive our race cars" by saying /r-r-r/ and running around the cones set up as a track.  For art we enjoyed painting with cars!
We gave all the cars a bath in the sink after playing with them in the paint.  We had a fun game where we had to sort all of the attribute blocks into the correct shape on the floor.  We worked on our shapes song and played with the parachute and shape beanbags.  We had such a fun day!

Wheels 2-20

We had a great day talking all about wheels again on Thursday.  We've been reviewing all the letters we've learned so far and all the kids are doing so great!  We sang the "Wheels on the Bus" what felt like 100 times and they loved it!  We also played in the dirt with the construction trucks, worked on using shapes to draw different cars and played the piano on the SmartBoard practicing Hot Cross Buns.  It was such a great day!

Wheels!

We had a great time in tot school today.  We talked all about wheels and played with wheels in many different ways.  We were building train tracks, making roads in the dirt with diggers and dumpers and driving our very own cardboard cars. We had such a fantastic day!

Wheels!

We had a great day of review yesterday playing with wheels of all sorts. We read a bunch of books about different types of wheels in the world.  We spent a lot of time working on our reading roads from the preschool pack "Wheels".  It covers all the letters we've already learned in words we've already been exposed to.  The point is to drive a car under each letter and make that letter sound.  You drive the car faster and faster and blend the letter sounds to read the word.  It was fantastic!  They are all reading so well!
We also practiced left and right and played Hot Cross Buns with both hands one octave apart on the piano.  We had a great day!

February Tot Packs

Getting ready for February? Tot Packs are ready for you!

I create all of my lesson plans to share digitally with other homeschooling families and small classrooms.  If your child attends Little Adventures Preschool you can easily supplement their learning at home by downloading the lesson plans.  It will also give you a good idea about what we covered.  I always plan more than we will ever actually get to so there is often a great idea within the plans that you can share with your child to extend their learning.  You can find all of my toddler and preschool lesson plans here:http://www.teachersnotebook.com/shop/LittleAdventuresPreschool
Find the year long theme calendar {here} and follow along with us! This post gives details and pictures of all February Toddler Packs. Be sure to scroll down to see all of them.

Tot Packs 25-28 Tot packs are about 20 pages in length. They each have 2 pages of activity ideas, book suggestions, and links to the materials I use. You can certainly use all or part of the lesson plans. The printable pages include songs, matching games, drawing games and other activities. Tot packs are designed to be a first introduction to math concepts, letters, shapes and colors. They are not meant to obtain mastery in any subject. Let them be a guide for educational play between you and your child.
