On Wednesday last week we learned about hearts. We had cutting practice while kids were arriving. They are become such great little artists!
During our reading groups we played a matching letters game to practice all of the letters we've learned so far.
Art was a new adventure on this day. We took a recipe from one of my curriculum books and gave it a shot. Jell-O, water, and glue - all mixed together for a textured smelly paint. It was okay, but if I were to do it again I'd boil the water to get the Jell-O to dissolve and leave out the glue - smelly paint is good enough for me!
The kids were really into painting with this,
that is, until they saw what was coming next!
There's nothing like good old shaving cream art. Take a bottle of cheep shaving cream, spray it on the table, and get to work! I have a great picture of little A writing her name, but didn't feel I could share that with the world at large, the idea caught on though and everyone started exploring the different ways they could draw in the shaving cream.
Once the basic novelty wore off we added some food coloring for a little fun, and since we were talking about hearts we chose pink, red and purple.
We took some plain white paper and rubbed it over our pictures to save our artwork after the table had to be cleaned. Oh, and cleaning the table isn't as hard as you might imagine. Just take a spatula and scrape off as much as you can before wiping it down with a cloth.
We are well into our module 2, comparing and contrasting for math. Expect your kids to start using more descriptive words in their speech, like: long, short, tall, big, little, heavy, light (this one has been harder), near and far.

We also played a little Red Light, Green Light. To introduce this game we did free dance during the green light and froze on the red light. Then I introduced the concept of first person to touch my hand gets to be "it" and they loved it!
